Modern Slavery Statement

B) ORGANISATION

This Policy extends to all Group Business Units [Chartway Civil Engineering, Chartway Partnerships [Southern], Chartway Partnerships [Kent and Essex], Chartway Drylining, Chartway Building Supplies, Chartway Living, Westerhill Homes by Chartway, Let Life by Chartway, OFP Timber Frame and Discovery Stairs & Joinery], workplaces, employees, and others affected by our operations. The five Chartway values are Quality, Respect, Integrity, Innovate and Sustainable.

B) ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE

Chartway Partnerships Group is a leading South East land-led housebuilder, specialising in the development of new homes and communities in partnership with housing associations, landowners, and fund managers. Founded in 2009, Chartway Partnerships Group is today made up of Chartway Civil Engineering, Chartway Partnerships [Southern], Chartway Partnerships [Kent and Essex], Chartway Drylining, Chartway Building Supplies, Chartway Living, Westerhill Homes by Chartway, Let Life by Chartway, OFP Timber Frame and Discovery Stairs & Joinery.

We have offices in Coxheath, Kent (head office) and Crawley, West Sussex and have multiple sites across South East England. The labour supplied to the Group in pursuance of its operation is carried out in the UK.

C) DEFINITIONS

The Group considers that modern slavery encompasses:

  • Human trafficking;
  • Forced work, through mental or physical threat;
  • Being owned or controlled by an employer through mental or physical abuse of the threat of abuse;
  • Being dehumanised, treated as a commodity or being bought or sold as property;
  • Being physically constrained or to have restriction placed on freedom of movement.

D) COMMITMENT

Chartway Partnerships Group acknowledges its responsibilities in relation to tackling modern slavery and commits to complying with the provisions in the Modern Slavery Act 2015. Chartway Partnerships Group understands that this requires an ongoing review of both its internal practices in relation to its labour force and, additionally, its supply chains.

Chartway Partnerships Group does not enter into business with any other organisation, in the United Kingdom which knowingly supports or is found to involve itself in slavery, servitude and forced or compulsory labour.

No labour provided to Chartway Partnerships Group in the pursuance of the provision of its own services is obtained by means of slavery or human trafficking. The Group strictly adheres to the standards required in relation to its responsibilities under relevant employment legislation in the UK.

Chartway Partnerships Group will ensure that all employees have the right to work in the UK, this includes checking all relevant immigration documentation.

E) SUPPLY CHAINS

In order to fulfil its activities, Chartway Partnerships Group will communicate our zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery to all suppliers, contractors, and business partners.

F) POTENTIAL EXPOSURE

In general, Chartway Partnerships Group considers its exposure to slavery/human trafficking to be relatively limited. Nonetheless it has taken steps to ensure that such practices do not take place in its business nor the business of any organisation that supplies goods and/or services to it.

G) STEPS

Chartway Partnerships Group carries out due diligence processes in relation to ensuring slavery and/or human trafficking does not take place in its organisation or supply chains, including conducting a review of the controls of its suppliers.

Chartway Partnerships Group has not, to its knowledge, conducted any business with another organisation which has been found to have involved itself with modern slavery.

In accordance with section 54(4) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, Chartway Partnerships Group has taken the following steps to ensure that modern slavery is not taking place:

  • All persons working for Chartway Partnerships Group must ensure they read, understand and comply with this policy.
  • Any persons working for Chartway Partnerships Group with concerns about any issues or suspicions of modern slavery in any parts of our business or supply chains must report this to the Group Head of HR or in their absence, a Director of the Group.
  • Chartway Partnerships Group will terminate our relationship with individuals and organisations working for Chartway Partnerships Group if they do not comply with our modern slavery statement.
  • Chartway Partnerships Group will ensure that all employees have the right to work in the UK, this includes checking all relevant immigration documentation and preserving copies of all right to work documents.

H) KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

Chartway Partnerships Group has set the following key performance indicators to measure its effectiveness in ensuring modern slavery is not taking place in Chartway Partnerships Group or its supply chains.

  • Chartway Partnerships Group staff will communicate our zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery to all contractors, suppliers, and business partners at the start of our business relationship with them and reiterate our policy as required.
  • Chartway Partnerships Group will commit to ensuring all new employees have the relevant training necessary when they commence working for Chartway Partnerships Group.

I) POLICIES

Chartway Partnerships Group will commit to reviewing all other policies on a regular basis, which will further define its zero-tolerance stance on modern slavery.

J) TRAINING

Chartway Partnerships Group provides induction training to staff to effectively implement its stance on modern slavery.

K) SLAVERY COMPLIANCE OFFICER

Chartway Partnerships Group has a Group Head of People to whom all concerns regarding modern slavery should be addressed, and who will then undertake relevant action with regard to the Chartway Partnerships Group obligations in this regard.

This statement is made in pursuance of Section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and will be reviewed for each financial year.
